DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Central California... The Sequoia National Park Wildfires in central California were emitting light to moderate density smoke which was spreading to the north. Northern California… A mostly thin area of smoke from seasonal burning and smaller wildfires was observed over northern California. Pacific Ocean just offshore California and northwestern Mexico Coast... An area of light density smoke from the fires over coastal southwestern California, was extending offshore from Northern California to northwestern Mexico. Eastern United States... An area of light density smoke from fire activity over the southeastern and central United States, was extending just off the East Coast of the United States over the Atlantic from Long Island to the southwest off Georgia. DUST: Central and Eastern Atlantic Ocean and the northeast Caribbean Sea…. An area of Saharan dust was extending across the eastern and central Atlantic Ocean and through the northeastern Caribbean Islands and into the northeastern Caribbean Sea, the dust may be further west in the Caribbean but cloud cover precluded further analysis. Eglin THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
