DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1700Z November 8, 2021
SMOKE: Southern Florida… A number of smoke plumes of generally thin density were seen moving to the south this morning from agricultural fires near and south of Lake Okeechobee in southern Florida. South Central and Southeastern U.S… Developing smoke plumes were observed this morning with agricultural/seasonal fire activity scattered across the south central and southeastern U.S. In addition, larger patches of leftover thin density smoke from yesterday’s round of burning were visible over Arkansas and Louisiana. North Central U.S… Leftover areas of thin density smoke attributed to recent agricultural/seasonal fire activity occurring in the south central and southeastern U.S. were seen stretching from Nebraska to the U.P. of Michigan and from northeastern Indiana over northwestern Ohio and southeastern Michigan. DUST: Eastern Caribbean… Some very thin Saharan dust was visible early this morning over the far eastern Caribbean region to the south and east of Puerto Rico. JS THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
