DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Southeast U.S. ... Agricultural burning activity was observed throughout the southeastern corner of the U.S. this late afternoon and evening. Fires were emitting both light to medium density smoke plumes generally towards the east. Light density smoke was observed from the fires progressing to the north around the Lake Okeechobee region of South Florida. Smoke from these fires was seen over the Atlantic Ocean along the coast of South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. Central Plains... Fires were scattered throughout the Central Plains and were seen emitting light density smoke plumes towards the east. Arkansas... Three light density smoke plumbs were observed in southern Arkansas from seasonal burning activity. The smoke plumbs were moving north in direction as evening approached. Eglin THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
