SMOKE: Southeastern U.S., Mississippi Valley, Tennessee Valley, Atlantic Ocean off the Southeast U.S. Coast... Heavy agricultural burning activity was observed throughout the Tennessee Valley, Southeastern U.S., and the Mississippi Valley. Fires were emitting light to moderate density smoke plumes generally towards the east. Heavy seasonal burning in eastern Kentucky was responsible for an area of light to moderate density smoke that stretched east into west Virginia. A broad area of thin density smoke attributed to recent significant seasonal fire activity in the southeastern U.S. was visible covering portions of Georgia, South Carolina, Florida and extends off the coast into the Atlantic Ocean. Arizona... Two light to moderate density smoke plumbs were observed in northern Arizona and one in eastern Arizona from seasonal burning activity. The smoke plumbs were moving north in direction as evening approached. Arkansas... Three light to moderate density smoke plumbs were observed in southeastern Arkansas from seasonal burning activity. The smoke plumbs were moving northeast in direction as evening approached. British Columbia, Alberta... Numerous seasonal fires in British Columbia and Alberta were seen through breaks in the clouds emitting at least light density smoke as night approached preventing further analysis. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED. USERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO VIEW A GRAPHIC DEPICTION OF THESE AND OTHER PLUMES WHICH ARE LESS EXTENSIVE AND STILL ATTACHED TO THE SOURCE FIRE IN VARIOUS GRAPHIC FORMATS ON OUR WEB SITE: JPEG: http://www.ospo.noaa.gov/data/land/fire/currenthms.jpg GIS: ftp://satpsanone.nesdis.noaa.gov/FIRE/HMS/GIS/ KML: http://www.ospo.noaa.gov/data/land/fire/fire.kml (fire) http://www.ospo.noaa.gov/data/land/fire/smoke.kml (smoke) ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS REGARDING THIS PRODUCT SHOULD BE SENT TO: SSDFireTeam@noaa.gov
