DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Southern Florida... Agricultural fires throughout the Florida Peninsula were observed this afternoon producing a few light smoke plumes primarily moving northeast, with one plume originating from a fire in Osceola County extending over the Atlantic Ocean. SMOKE/AEROSOL: Gulf of Mexico/Mexico/Northwestern Central America/Pacific Ocean/South Texas... A typical mix of smoke and aerosols from seasonal burning and oil and gas flaring continued to be observed over coastal portions of southern and eastern Mexico, northwestern Central America, an area in the tropical eastern Pacific south and west of the Mexico and Central America coastlines, and the western and Gulf of Mexico including the Bay of Campeche extending north into extreme southern Texas. DUST: Texas… A plume of dust was again observed this afternoon blowing eastward from near the Texas/New Mexico border to just west of the Fort Worth area by sunset. MTC THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
