DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Eastern Great Plains, Mississippi Valley... Agricultural burning activity was observed throughout the eastern Great Plains and the Mississippi Valley. Fires were emitting light to moderate density smoke plumes generally towards the south as night approached. Hispaniola/Caribbean... Wildfires produced locally thicker smoke in the western part of the Dominican Republic and southeastern Haiti which fanned out as it moved to the west over a portion of the nearby Caribbean. SMOKE/AEROSOL: Mexico, Eastern Pacific Ocean South of the Coast of Mexico and Guatemala... The typical mix of smoke and aerosols from seasonal burning, oil and gas flaring, and other industrial sources primarily in Mexico was observed again this morning over portions of western/southern Mexico and off the coast of Southern Mexico and Guatemala over the tropical eastern Pacific Ocean. Eglin THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
