DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Texas, Louisiana... Seasonal burning was responsible for numerous light to moderate smoke plumbs in Texas and Louisiana. The smoke plumbs in this area were seen moving generally north in direction as evening approached. Florida... Numerous agricultural fires in Florida were emitting thin density smoke plumes throughout Florida that were generally moving quickly off to the southeast. Alberta... Numerous agricultural fires in Alberta were emitting thin density smoke plumes with moderate density smoke near the sources in western Alberta that were generally moving to the southeast. BLOWING DUST: Texas, Oklahoma... A broad area of moderate density blowing dust kicked up around Midland in western Texas and extending to the east entering south-central Oklahoma along the Texas boarder as night approached. SMOKE/AEROSOL... Bay of Campeche/Western Gulf of Mexico/Southern and Eastern Mexico/Northwestern Central America/Pacific Ocean South of Mexico and Central America… A combination of thin density smoke from seasonal fires in Mexico and Central America and other atmospheric pollutants including aerosols from oil and gas flaring and other industries in the region was visible today over the western Gulf of Mexico, the far western part of the Bay of Campeche, portions of southern, western and eastern Mexico, northwestern Central America, and the Pacific Ocean off the southern coast of Mexico and Central America. Eglin THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
