DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

Florida... Numerous agricultural fires throughout Florida were emitting mostly thin density smoke plumes which were moving generally north over the day. Two larger light to moderate density smoke plumbs from agricultural fires were observed in Florida panhandle and were observed moving north into Alabama and Georgia as evening approached. Hispaniola/Caribbean... Wildfires produced locally thicker smoke in the western part of the Dominican Republic which fanned out as it moved to the west over a portion of nearby Haiti and the Caribbean. SMOKE/AEROSOL... Western Gulf of Mexico/Southern and Eastern Mexico/Northwestern Central America/Pacific Ocean South of Mexico and Central America… A combination of thin density smoke from seasonal fires in Mexico and Central America and other unknown aerosol was extending along the western Gulf of Mexico and eastern Mexico into southern Texas. This continued over southwestern Mexico and northwestern Central America extending offshore into the Tropical Eastern Pacific. Eglin THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
