DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: South-central U.S., Southeast U.S. ... Agricultural burning activity was observed throughout the eastern South-central U.S. and the southeastern U.S., fires throughout the area were emitting light to moderate density smoke plumes generally moving towards the southeast. Coastal Central California... The Colorado wildfire complex located north of Big Sur in the Notleys Landing and Palo Colorado Canyon region was responsible for a large area of remnant primarily thin density smoke just inland over the San Francisco Bay area and extending well off the coast of central California to the west. Hispaniola/Cuba/Jamaica/Caribbean Sea… Two large wildfires continue to burn in the southwestern Dominican Republic with mostly moderate to thick density smoke dispersing to the west across southern Haiti and over the central Caribbean sea. SMOKE/AEROSOL... Mexico/Northwestern Central America/Pacific Ocean South of Mexico and Central America… A combination of thin density smoke from seasonal fires in Mexico and Central America and other atmospheric pollutants including aerosols from oil and gas flaring and other industries in the region was visible today over portions of southern Mexico, northwestern Central America, and the Pacific Ocean off the southern coast of Mexico and Central America. Eglin THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
