DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas... Seasonal burning was responsible for numerous light to moderate smoke plumbs in Oklahoma, Texas and Arkansas. Most of the smoke plumbs generally moving southwest in direction as evening approached. Oregon... Two wildfires in southwest/central Oregon were producing light to moderate density smoke plumbs that were generally moving to the west. Hispaniola/Cuba/Jamaica/Caribbean Sea/Southeastern Bahamas... Two large wildfires continue to be observed in the Southwestern Dominican Republic emitting moderate to thick density smoke progressing southwestward offshore from Hispaniola to the southeast of Jamaica over the Caribbean Sea. Mexico... In northern Mexico a light to heavy density smoke plumb was observed from possible seasonal burning activity. The smoke plumb was seen moving generally northeast in direction as evening approached. SMOKE/AEROSOL: Bay of Campeche/Southern and Eastern Mexico/Northwestern Central America/Pacific Ocean South of Mexico and Central America… A combination of thin density smoke from seasonal fires in Mexico and Central America and other atmospheric pollutants including aerosols from oil and gas flaring and other industries in the region was visible today over the the Bay of Campeche, portions of southern and eastern Mexico, northwestern Central America, and the Pacific Ocean off the southern coast of Mexico and Central America. Eglin THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
