DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1710Z January 31, 2022

SMOKE:
South Central and Southeastern U.S/ Southeastern Gulf of Mexico...
Agricultural burning activity was observed throughout parts of the
South-central U.S. and the southeastern U.S. Remnant light density
smoke regions were observed over Southern Georgia, Northern Florida,
Central Mississippi, and Southwestern Alabama. Light density smoke was
also observed in parts of Southeastern Gulf of Mexico this morning.

South Florida...
Agricultural burning activity was observed around the Lake Okeechobee
region of South Florida this morning.


SMOKE/AEROSOL:
Bay of Campeche/Southern Mexico/Northwestern Central America/Pacific
Ocean South of Mexico and Central America/Cuba/Caribbean…
A broad region consisting of a combination of light density smoke and
aerosols from seasonal fire activity, oil, and gas flaring as well
as other industrial pollution sources was visible this morning today
across a portion of the southwestern Gulf of Mexico/Bay of Campeche,
southern Mexico, northwestern Central America including Guatemala, and
extending well off the coast of southern Mexico and Central America over
the eastern Pacific Ocean this morning.

THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF
SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED
FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE.
TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS.  AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE
ALSO DESCRIBED.  USERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO VIEW A GRAPHIC DEPICTION OF THESE
AND OTHER PLUMES WHICH ARE LESS EXTENSIVE AND STILL ATTACHED TO THE SOURCE
FIRE IN VARIOUS GRAPHIC FORMATS ON OUR WEB SITE:
