DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: South Central and Southeastern United States... Widespread agricultural burning activity was observed throughout the South-central and southeastern United States. Numerous fires blanketed the area with light density smoke that included swaths of moderate density smoke. This area of smoke starts in Oklahoma in the west up to Missouri in the north and continues to the east from the Gulf states ending in South Carolina. South Florida... Agricultural burning activity was observed around the Lake Okeechobee region of South Florida. Light density plumbs of smoke were combining and then moved quickly off to the north. SMOKE/AEROSOL: Bay of Campeche/Gulf of Mexico/Southern and Eastern Mexico/Northwestern Central America/Pacific Ocean South of Mexico and Central America... A combination of thin density smoke from seasonal fires in Mexico and Central America and other atmospheric pollutants including aerosols from oil and gas flaring and other industries in the region was visible today over the the western Bay of Campeche, western Gulf of Mexico, portions of southern and eastern Mexico, northwestern Central America, and the Pacific Ocean off the southern coast of Mexico and Central America. BLOWING DUST: Utah, Nevada... An area of moderate to heavy density blowing dust kicked up from the Great Salt Lake Desert in northwest Utah, This dust was seen moving southwest into Nevada as night approached. Eglin THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
