DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE/AEROSOL... Southern Mexico/Northwestern Central America/Pacific Ocean South of Mexico and Central America… An area of thin density aerosol which is likely composed partly of smoke from seasonal fires in Mexico and Central America and aerosols from oil and gas flaring and other industrial sources in Mexico and Central America was visible this evening over portions of southern Mexico, Central America, and extending well off the coast of southern Mexico and Central America over the Pacific Ocean. Hanna THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
