DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE/AEROSOL/DUST: Southern Mississippi Valley/Southeast US/Northwestern and Northern Gulf of Mexico... Widespread agricultural burning observed over parts of the Southern Mississippi Valley and southeastern US has resulted in regions of remnant light to moderate density smoke. Smoke was observed over parts of southern Kentucky, western Tennessee, southeastern Arkansas, northern Florida, and as well as over parts of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. Smoke was also observed south of Texas and Louisiana, offshore over northwestern and northern Gulf of Mexico this morning. Southern Mexico/Northwestern Central America/Pacific Ocean South of Mexico and Central America… A broad region of light to moderate density smoke from a combination of seasonal fire activity in Mexico and Central America and along with aerosols from oil and gas flaring and other industrial sources in that region was visible this morning covering coastal areas of southern Mexico, northwestern Central America, and extending south offshore over the Tropical Eastern Pacific Ocean. Sambucci THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
