DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: South central United States, Western Gulf of Mexico.… A combination of fire activity from Mexico and seasonal fire activity from south central U.S was responsible for large area of mostly leftover light density smoke. A few patches of moderate density smoke were embedded in regions over southeastern Oklahoma and south central Arkansas. Southeastern United States, Eastern Gulf of Mexico, Mid-Atlantic coast… An area of remnant thin density smoke from recent seasonal fire activity in the southeastern U.S was observed this morning across Eastern Gulf of Mexico to the Eastern Carolinas. In addition, a number of newly developed smoke plumes were seen across the U.S. SMOKE/AEROSOL: Southern Gulf of Mexico, Southern and Eastern Mexico, Northwestern Central America and the Pacific Ocean south of Mexico and Central America... The combination of light density smoke from seasonal fires in Mexico and Central America along with other atmospheric pollutants including aerosols from oil and gas flaring and other industries in the region was observed this morning over the southern Gulf of Mexico, southern and eastern Mexico, northwestern Central America and the Tropical Eastern Pacific Ocean offshore of southwestern Mexico and northwestern Central America. A few patches of moderate density smoke were observed over southern Mexico and extending to the south to the nearby Pacific. Nguyen THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
