DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Southeastern U.S... Seasonal burning and remnant smoke created broad area of light to moderate density smoke that was extending from northeast Florida, southeast Georgia, the southern portion of the Carolinas to the east over the Atlantic Ocean approximately 600 miles off the coast North Carolina. Cuba: Seasonal burning and remnant smoke were responsible for an area of light density smoke moving northwest of Cuba over the Caribbean Bay of Campeche/Gulf of Mexico/Mexico/Northwestern Central America/Pacific Ocean South of Mexico and Central America... The combination of light to moderate density smoke from seasonal fires in Mexico and Central America along with other atmospheric pollutants including aerosols from oil and gas flaring and other industries and possibly some volcanic ash from Fuego volcano in Guatemala was visible this morning across portions of southern and western Mexico, most of the Gulf of Mexico, most of the Bay of Campeche, northwestern Central America, and extending well off the southern coast of Mexico and northwestern Central America over the Pacific Ocean. moderate density smoke was visible this morning over the western Gulf of Mexico, western Bay of Campeche, and off the southern coast of Mexico and northwestern Central America. Eglin THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
