DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Central/Southeastern U.S./Atlantic... A large thin plume, primarily from yesterday’s agricultural burns, was detected extending from the Midwest, into the Mid Mississippi/Tennessee Valleys, across parts of the Southeast, and for several hundred miles offshore east of Florida. SMOKE/AEROSOL: Mexico/Gulf of Mexico/Pacific... A broad region light density smoke from seasonal fire activity mixed with aerosols from oil and gas flaring and other industrial sources in Mexico was observed covering a large part southeastern Mexico, the Gulf of Mexico, along the south-central Mexico Pacific coastal region, and for several hundred miles offshore over the eastern Pacific. Konon THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
