DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0320Z April 6, 2022

SMOKE/AEROSOL:
Southeastern U.S./Gulf of Mexico/Bay of Campeche/Mexico/Central
America/Pacific/Caribbean...
A large areas of thin to moderate density smoke mixed with aerosols from
oil, flaring, and other industrial sources in Mexico, Central America,
and Caribbean region was visible covering much of southern and eastern
Mexico and Central America and extending well to the south of off the
southern coast of Mexico and Central America over the Pacific Ocean.
The smoke/aerosol mix also stretched to the east over much of the
Caribbean including all of Cuba and portions of Hispaniola, the Bay of
Campeche, Gulf of Mexico, and over portions of southeastern U.S.
including south-central/eastern Texas and Florida.  A moderate smoke/
aerosol mix was visible over eastern Mexico, Bay of Campeche, the
western Gulf of Mexico, and just north of Honduras.  The smoke was due
to ongoing significant seasonal burning occurring in Mexico and Central
America.

Kansas/Oklahoma/Texas...
A large wildfire in the Oklahoma Panhandle was spreading a light to
moderate density plume over south-central Kansas, parts of the Oklahoma
Panhandle, and the northern part of the Texas Panhandle.


DUST:
Southern Plains...
A large area of blowing dust was detected over north-central Texas and
southwestern/central Oklahoma Tuesday afternoon and early evening.

THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF
SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED
FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE.
TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS.  AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE
ALSO DESCRIBED.  USERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO VIEW A GRAPHIC DEPICTION OF THESE
AND OTHER PLUMES WHICH ARE LESS EXTENSIVE AND STILL ATTACHED TO THE SOURCE
FIRE IN VARIOUS GRAPHIC FORMATS ON OUR WEB SITE:
