DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0100Z April 27, 2022

SMOKE:

Plains/Midwest/Mississippi Valley/Canada...
A large thin density plume, mostly sourced from agricultural burns and
wildfires yesterday, was detected across much of the Central and
Southern Plains, the Midwest, the Mid Mississippi Valley, and extending
into Saskatchewan. Moderate density smoke was also observed in Kansas
moving north/northeastward this evening. This smoke was mainly produced
from agricultural burns and seasonal fire activity within the region.

Southwest U.S...
A narrow light density plume, sourced from wildfires in north-central
New Mexico, was found extending across northwest New Mexico and into
southeastern Colorado. Cloud cover from the west quickly cover the smoke
plume, thus the full extent of the smoke is unknown.

Mexico/Pacific...
A large thin density plume was detected across southern coastal Mexico
and offshore into the Pacific. This plume was a result of numerous
agricultural burns
ongoing in the region.

THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF
SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED
FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE.
TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS.  AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE
ALSO DESCRIBED.  USERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO VIEW A GRAPHIC DEPICTION OF THESE
AND OTHER PLUMES WHICH ARE LESS EXTENSIVE AND STILL ATTACHED TO THE SOURCE
FIRE IN VARIOUS GRAPHIC FORMATS ON OUR WEB SITE:
