SMOKE: Northern California to Central/Eastern U.S.... Wildfires in northwestern California and southwestern Oregon were observed producing light to moderate smoke which extended out over the coastal Pacific Ocean nearby. Lighter remnant smoke from these fires, as well as fires in northern Canada, extended eastward across Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana before expanding to cover much of the central and eastern U.S. with the exception of Florida, Louisiana, and southern Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia. The smoke continued off the east coast over the Atlantic Ocean south of New England to south of Newfoundland. Central California... Two wildfires in east-central California was seen producing light density smoke that was moving east into Nevada. Canada... Dense smoke was observed over northern Saskatchewan and Manitoba with moderate smoke extending from the far south-central Northwestern Territories to the southeast covering parts of Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and far western Quebec. Thinner smoke extended from the Yukon and Northwest Territories to central Quebec. DUST: An area of Saharan dust was observed over the central Atlantic Ocean approaching the Leeward Islands earlier today.
