DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Central/Eastern-Southern Canada/Northwestern and Northern U.S... A very large plume consisting of light-to-medium density smoke was observed over most of central-southern Canada including the southeastern Northwest Territories, southern Nunavut,central/southern Hudson Bay,eastern British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario western-central Quebec, in addition to northwestern-northern U.S. states including northwestern California, mostly central/eastern Oregon (far southwestern Oregon), Idaho, Montana, the Dakotas, Wyoming, northwest Colorado, and northeast Utah. Very light residual smoke is seen in central Nebraska, most of Kansas, northern Oklahoma, parts of Wisconsin, northern Illinois and northeast Iowa. Areas of very dense smoke can be seen across eastern Alberta, most of Saskatchewan, Manitoba, most of Ontario and eastern into central Quebec. Also, very dense smoke is seen in eastern Oregon, central Idaho, southern/central Montana, western/central Wyoming, most of the Dakotas region and northern/central Minnesota. The smoke was linked to numerous wildfires burning across the southwestern and central Canada and the northwestern U.S. Smoke may spread farther north in Canada and east in Canada/U.S., but difficult to see due to cloud cover. JK THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
