SMOKE: Much of the CONUS/Central Canada/Eastern Canada… A sizable area of smoke resides over a good portion of North America stretching from the Pacific Coast into the Pacific NW and the Intermountain West. From there, some moved north into the Prairie Provinces and NW Territory. However, most was moving into the Great Plains where it splits moving both into AZ/NM and the Great Lakes, Mississippi Valley, and eastern Canada. The thickest smoke was observed across central Idaho, Montana, and the western Dakotas. Numerous fires in southern British Columbia were observed producing moderate smoke plumes, along with the number of wildfires along the the British Columbia/Washington border producing thick smoke moving westward and contributing the large area of smoke covering the U.S and Canada. Another area of moderate smoke was seen over Quebec, Labrador, and the Labrador Sea. California... A number of fires through California were observed producing moderate to thick smoke plumes. Most of the fires producing mainly moderate smoke plumes extending into the Pacific Ocean were observed in southern California whereas the large wildfires in Central California were producing thick smoke moving N/NE into northwestern Nevada.
