DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Pacific Northwest, Western Canada... A large area of variety density smoke from the ongoing fires over the Pacific Northwest and western Canada was extending engulfing from the Pacific Northwest, through British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and into the Northwest Territories. Within this area of smoke, numerous fires were observed producing moderate to high density smoke, most notably a large area of moderate smoke was seen extending over western Oregon, western Washington, southern and Northern British Columbia, northern Alberta, parts of Saskatchewan as well as off the coast of the Pacific Northwest. Notable areas of thick smoke were observed in Western Oregon, from the Cedar Creek Fire, extending westward towards the Pacific Ocean, and between Washington and southern British Columbia. In addition some remnant light density smoke was observed over central California, most likely a combination from the wildfires in the fires in the Pacific Northwest/Western Canada and local wildfires. Central U.S/Saskatchewan... From southern Saskatchewan and North Dakota towards the southern states by the Mississippi Valley, numerous isolated agricultural fires were observed producing light density smoke plumes. The smoke from fires in Saskatchewan and North Dakota was variety directions, with the fires in Saskatchewan moving northward while in North Dakota was seen moving mainly moving east/southeast. The smoke from fires near the Mississippi valley was observed moving southward. Nguyen THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
