DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Utah... In central Utah a moderate to heavy density smoke plume attributed to a wildfire was visible stretching east across the state as the evening approached. North-Central and Eastern U.S./ Gulf of Mexico/South Central and Southern Canada... A huge mass of thin to moderate density smoke attributed mainly to daily seasonal/agricultural type fire activity occurring especially in the Mississippi Valley and the southeastern U.S. as well as contributions from recent and current wildfire activity in the Pacific Northwest, Western Canada and The Northwest Territories was present covering much of the north-central and eastern U.S. continuing east and south over south central and the the eastern U.S. wile also reaching western Ontario in the north, the Atlantic just off the southeast coast of the U.S. and over the Gulf of Mexico along the Gulf states. Within this mass of thin density smoke a large area of moderate density smoke was observed around the Mississippi Valley due heavy burning in the area. Additionally, numerous larger moderate density smoke plumes were observer over the the southeastern United States Pacific Northwest, Western Canada, The Northwest Territories. Some of the ongoing wildfires in the Pacific Northwest, Western Canada and The Northwest Territories were detected but do to heavy cloud cover smoke in this region could not be analyzed. Eglin THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
