DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Oregon/Washington... Numerous light density smoke plumes from prescribed burning were observed moving westward across Oregon and southern Washington. OTHER AEROSOLS/SMOKE: Gulf of Mexico/Southeastern Mexico/Pacific off the Southern Coast of Mexico… A broad area of what is most likely primarily thin density aerosol from industrial sources in Mexico with a smaller contribution of smoke from oil and gas flaring and seasonal fire activity in the region was seen over the south central Gulf of Mexico, the Bay of Campeche, portions of southeastern Mexico, and the Pacific off the southern coast of Mexico. Nguyen THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
