DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1700Z December 13, 2022
SMOKE: Florida... Several agricultural fires near and especially south of Lake Okeechobee were observed producing light density smoke moving to the west. SMOKE/AEROSOLS: Southern Texas/Mexico/Bay of Campeche/Western Gulf of Mexico/Pacific Ocean South of Mexico… A large area of remnant thin density smoke from seasonal fires in Mexico mixed with aerosols originating from gas flaring activity in Bay of Campeche and urban/industrial activity in Mexico continue to be monitored, with the large area of smoke/aerosols encompassing southern and eastern Mexico, the western Gulf of Mexico, and the Pacific Ocean south of Mexico. In addition to this, emissions from gas flaring in the Bay of Campeche were seen moving off toward the northwest. JS THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
