DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1620Z May 31, 2023
SMOKE: Canada/Eastern and Central U.S/Atlantic Ocean… Dense smoke from wildfires in Alberta, Saskatchewan, British Columbia, and the Northwest Territories continued to be observed across much of northern and south-central Canada. Moderate and thick density smoke was observed over the Northwestern Territories, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and extending across Manitoba into part of Ontario and Hudson Bay. Lighter smoke was observed over central and eastern U.S and the Atlantic Ocean off the coast Northeastern U.S and southeastern Canada.In addition, remnant moderate smoke from the Nova Scotia fires was also observed moving west across coastal southern New England. Mexico/Central America/Gulf of Mexico/Pacific... Fire activity in western and southern Mexico and Central America continue to produce light density smoke which was observed over much of southern Mexico, western Gulf of Mexico, parts of northwestern Central America, and the Pacific Ocean southwest of Mexico. Nguyen THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
