DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Western Canada... Ongoing active wildfire activity across northern Alberta continues to produce light to moderate smoke spreading to the northeast into the Northwest Territories. The smoke continues east across northern Canada ending in the southern Baffin Bay off the west coast of Greenland. Northern and Central Plains/Mississippi Valley... Heavy agricultural burning from southeast Missouri, Arkansas, and into Louisiana yesterday produced a large thin patch of light residual smoke extending from Southeastern Montana to the southeast through the central region of U.S and into southeastern Missouri. Extensive cloud cover over the majority of North America precluded further smoke analysis this morning. Eglin THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
