DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Northern Gulf of Mexico, Northern Gulf Coast, Southeastern United States, Midwestern United States... A large area of mostly light density smoke, from fire activity over the southeastern and south central United States, was seen extending from the northern Gulf of Mexico through the Southeastern United States, and parts ofthe Midwestern States. Within this region, numerous light density smoke plumes was seen throughout the southeastern U.S, mainly moving northward direction. Patches of moderate density smoke was seen mainly over in southern Louisiana. Moderate smoke may likely be over in eastern Arkansas, where the majority of the fire activity is located but cloud cover prevented further analysis. Southwestern United States, Texas and Western Oklahoma…. A narrow axis of light density smoke, from fire activity over New Mexico and Arizona was seen extending through west central Texas, central New Mexico and into central Arizona. Moderate density smoke was seen from the wildfires in New Mexico and Arizona, more concentrated within the respective states. California... Numerous wildfires scattered across the state produce a large area of light density smoke extended over mainly northern California and into the Pacific Ocean. Within the state, several wildfires were seen producing localized moderate to potentially thick density smoke plumes. Nguyen THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
