DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE/AEROSOL: Atlantic Ocean off the Southeastern United States Coast, Southeastern United States, Gulf of Mexico, Western Caribbean Sea, Eastern and Southern Mexico, Northwestern Central America and the Pacific Ocean South and Southwest of Southwest Mexico and Northwestern Central America…. A broad area of light density smoke from seasonal fire activity over Cuba, the Southeastern United States and Mexico was seen extending from well offshore the Atlantic East Coast extending south and west through the Southeastern United States and most of the Gulf of Mexico, western Caribbean Sea and into eastern and southern Mexico, northwestern Central America and offshore into the Pacific Ocean south and southwest of southwest Mexico and northwest Central America. The area of smoke over the western Gulf of Mexico, Mexico, northwest Central America and the eastern Pacific Ocean was likely mixed with aerosol from industrial activity over Mexico and Central America. Hanna THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
