DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1700Z February 2, 2024
SMOKE: Southeastern United States... Moderate seasonal burning was detected throughout the southeastern United States. Numerous light density smoke plumes located throughout Florida were seen moving eastward, while the smoke in Georgia were moving southeastward. In addition, a large patch of remnant smoke was seen over most of Mississippi and parts of eastern Louisiana, likely due the seasonal burning throughout the region. AEROSOL… Mexico/Central America/Northwest Central America/Pacific Ocean: An area of light to moderate density aerosol and smoke was seen over the Pacific Ocean off the coast of southern Mexico and northwestern Central America. The aerosols are most likely from urban emissions with scattered fires mixed in.
