DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Southeast US/Gulf of Mexico... Several presumably agricultural fires were observed from eastern Texas to North Carolina and along the Gulf Coast. Observed smoke was light to moderate in nature and was generally moving south to southwest. Several fires along the Gulf coast produced smoke plums that reached out over the Gulf of Mexico. SMOKE/AEROSOL… Mexico/Central America/Pacific Ocean: An area of light to moderate aerosol from a composite of smoke from agricultural burning, volcanic ash, gas flaring in the Bay of Campeche and aerosol from industrial sources was observed blanketing an area from southern Mexico, across the Gulf of Tehuantepec and along the Pacific coast of Guatemala, El Salvador and Southern Mexico. Eglin THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
