DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Southeastern/South-Central U.S./Gulf of Mexico… An area of mostly thin density smoke with some moderate plumes of smoke attributed seasonal fire activity from central Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas continuing east through the southeastern United States. The smoke was visible extending from central Texas eastward through the southeastern U.S. into southern North Carolina. The smoke also extended south over the northern Gulf of Mexico. Moderate density smoke plumes were seen mostly over Arkansas, Louisiana, Alabama, and Georgia. The denser smoke plumes were generally moving north in Arkansas and Louisiana and south/southeast along the Gulf States. AEROSOL/SMOKE… Mexico/Gulf of Mexico/Central America/Northwest Central America/Pacific Ocean south of Mexico… An area of light to moderate density aerosol from a composite of smoke from agricultural burning, volcanic ash and industrial sources was noted over the Pacific Ocean off the coast of southern Mexico and northwestern Central America. Eglin THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
