DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Midwest and South U.S. … There was heavy fire activity throughout the Midwest and Southern regions of the U.S. this early afternoon and evening. There were various smoke plume densities, from light to heavy, scattered throughout these regions that were emitting mostly towards the north-northeast-east. SE FL… Fires within the vicinity of Lake Okeechobee continue to emit smoke plumes towards the south-southeast. AEROSOL/SMOKE: Mexico/Bay of Campeche/Central America/Pacific... An area of light density aerosol from a composite of smoke due to agricultural burning, volcanic ash, and industrial sources was detected over the southern Bay of Campeche, southern/eastern Mexico, the Pacific Ocean off the coast of southern Mexico, and northwestern Central America. Rodriguez THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
