DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Florida... Agricultural burning in the Floridian panhandle produced light to localized moderate observable smoke originating from the southern tip of the state, with the smoke moving northward. In addition, agricultural burning was seen further north in the state, producing light density smoke moving northeastward before cloud cover prevented further observation. Southern Bay of Campeche... An area of thin density smoke emanating from a number of oil rigs in the Bay of Campeche was visible blowing towards the Northwest. AEROSOL/SMOKE… Mexico/Gulf of Mexico/Central America/Northwest Central America/Pacific Ocean south of Mexico… An area of light to moderate density aerosol from a composite of smoke due to agricultural burning and industrial sources was noted over the western portion of the Gulf of Mexico and majority of eastern/southern Mexico. An area of light-density aerosol from a composite of smoke from agricultural burning and industrial sources was noted over the Pacific Ocean off the coast of southern Mexico and northwestern Central America. Nguyen THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
