DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Alaska/Canada/Washington/Eastern United States/Gulf of Mexico... A large area of light smoke attributed to numerous recent wildfires throughout Alaska and Northern Canada continues to be seen today stretching from the Bering Sea east over Canada and reaching Greenland. Light smoke extended south over much of Washington state, the Midwestern states, and continued south along the east coast and offshore Atlantic, covering most of the eastern United States, Gulf coast, the east coast of Mexico, the northwestern Gulf of Mexico and well into the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Europe. Large concentrated fires throughout the Northwest Territories, northeast British Columbia and northern Alberta continue to produce moderate to thick density smoke that can be seen throughout central Canada and west of the Great Lakes. Moderate smoke from fires in Washington was seen extending from the Cascades east across the state. Cloud cover across most of Alaska, northern Canada, and throughout the central U.S. and Great Lakes region as well as a tropical system in the Caribbean prevented more detailed analysis. California/Pacific Ocean... An area of remnant smoke from multiple fires in California continued extended across the state covering much of the central valley and western coast and extending northwest into the Pacific Ocean. Nguyen THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
