DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1625Z September 27, 2024
SMOKE: United States... An area of light density smoke attributed to wildfire activity throughout the Pacific Northwest and Western United States and seasonal burning in various different areas in the U.S. was observed covering an expansive area throughout parts of Pacific Northwest, the Southwest and the Midwest. This smoke was very light in density and was seen moving northeast from the Southwest towards North and South Dakota and eventually dispersing into western Ontario. Continued widespread cloud coverage throughout Canada and dense coverage throughout the eastern part of the United States due to Hurricane Helene prevents a more detailed analysis of smoke this morning. Willkens THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
