DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1940Z September 28, 2024
SMOKE: Idaho/Montana/Washington State/Oregon... ... Several light to heavy density smoke plumes (attributed to seasonal burning along the East Coast) were observed blowing east across the Midwestern plains. The smoke was visible until coming into contact with the remains of Hurricane Helene as it moved Northwest towards the Great Lakes. Cardona THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
