DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0050Z September 30, 2024
SMOKE: Montana/Wyoming/North-central U.S./... An area of light to medium density smoke originating from wildfire activity in central Idaho and western Wyoming was observed dispersing northeastward and eastward over north-central U.S. and south-central Canada. The fire in western Wyoming was releasing dense smoke into the conglomerated smoke this evening. Utah... A wildfire in northern Utah was emitting light to possibly moderate density smoke which was moving generally northeast in direction into southwestern Idaho. Washington Stateā¦ Numerous small wildfires could be seen producing mostly light density smoke plumes which generally moved to the southwest. Southern California... Moderate density smoke was observed emanating from a wildfire east of Los Angles in southern California moving generally north of northeast in direction. Blowing Dust: Washington State... At least moderate blowing dust could be seen originating from a salt flat in south-central Washington State. This dust was moving south of southwest remaining in the state. Eglin THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
