DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 2320 September 30, 2024
SMOKE: Idaho/Montana/Wyoming/North-central U.S./south-central, southeastern Canada/Quebec... An area of light to medium density smoke originating from wildfire activity in central Idaho and western Wyoming was observed dispersing northeastward and eastward over north-central U.S. and south-central and southeastern Canada. The fire in northern Wyoming was releasing at least moderately dense smoke into the conglomerated smoke this evening. Another fire in northern Quebec was was releasing at least moderately dense smoke to rthe north into the conglomerated smoke. Utah... A wildfire in northern Utah was emitting light density smoke which was moving generally east in direction. Washington State… Numerous small wildfires could be seen producing mostly light density smoke plumes which generally moved to the southwest. Moderate density smoke was noted closer to the sources. California, Nevada… Several wildfires in southern California could be seen producing light to moderate density smoke which generally moved to the northwest. Moderate density smoke was noted closer to the sources. A larger area of detached light smoke was seen through central California and southwestern Nevada. Blowing Dust: Washington State... At least moderate blowing dust could be seen originating from a salt flat in south-central Washington State. This dust was moving south of southwest remaining in the state. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
