DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1720z October 27, 2024
SMOKE: Southeastern U.S./Lower Mississippi Valley/Atlantic Ocean... A layer of light density remnant smoke attributed to seasonal agricultural burning throughout the Mississippi Valley and southeastern United States was observed over southeastern U.S and the Gulf Coast before extending northeast over in the Atlantic Ocean. AEROSOL: Western Mexico/Pacific Ocean/Gulf of Mexico... A light density aerosol plume was observed over southwestern Mexico and the Pacific Ocean, and the Gulf of Mexico. This aerosol was likely produced from volcanic emissions and industrial activity from major urban centers within the southern area of Mexico. YL THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
