DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1500Z October 29, 2024
SMOKE: Southeastern United States/Gulf Coast/Great Lakes Region... A layer of light-to-moderate density remnant smoke attributed to seasonal agricultural burning along the Mississippi River and throughout the Southeastern United States was observed this morning stretching southeastward from Iowa and Nebraska, through the Lower Mississippi River Basin, continuing east along the Gulf Coast before extending north along the Appalachian Valley into the Great Lakes region where cloud cover began to obscure visibility, preventing further analysis throughout the area. AEROSOL: Western Mexico/Pacific Ocean... A light density aerosol plume was observed over southwestern Mexico and the Pacific Ocean, south of the Gulf of California. This aerosol was likely produced from volcanic emissions and industrial activity from major urban centers within the southern area of Mexico.
