*Details/Specifics of Change:*This user notification is to announce the
GASP-West, ASDTA Smoke-West & ASDTA Smoke-Hawaii products are returning
to operations on January 24th. The products have successfully
negotiated the transition from GOES-11 to GOES-15.
Cause of Outage: Starting December 6th, GOES-15 replaced GOES-11
in the
GOES-West role. From December 6th until December 14th, the GOES-15
satellite drifted from an initial GOES-West position to the final
GOES-West destination. Due to algorithm requirements, the GASP-West
and
ASDTA Smoke-West products could not be generated while the satellite
was drifting. Also, once GOES-15 reached its final destination in the
permanent GOES-West position, additional days of sensing were required
before GASP-West, ASDTA Smoke-West and ASDTA Smoke-Hawaii operations
could resume. *
