The HRD link provides global users direct access to instrument data free of charge. The HRD will be broadcast continuously except during satellite maintenance activities. The Mission Operations team will inform the user community of any interruption to the HRD broadcast via the Mission Notice System. The Direct Readout Laboratory (DRL) distribution list has been added to the Mission Notices so HRD users will be informed directly. The release of Suomi NPP instrument data via HRD is the final step in the satellite commissioning activities. To prepare for this milestone the team has worked with several representative receiving sites to evaluate the HRD operations. HRD operations were nominal except for a few passes where the team has noticed signal strength variations beyond what is expected. Depending on your receiver site location and equipment, you may observe a dropout approximately once every two weeks for a few seconds. This is under investigation and more information will be provided as the investigation proceeds. For more information on how to receive the Suomi NPP HRD broadcast service, refer to the public HRD DRL Web Portal. The DRL provides the global user community with easy access to Earth remote sensing data and technologies through shared information resources. This includes mission-specific information, free technologies to acquire and process Direct Broadcast Data. It also provides users with a design template to receive, process and analyze their own Direct Readout Data.
