for the blended TPW products The blended TPW product, which merges
several TPW products from a multitude of algorithms and sensors, has
exhibited temporal and spatial discontinuities, especially over
the west
Pacific Ocean. An impact analysis has been performed to identify the
causes for this anomaly. Based on the study results, a decision
has been
made to temporarily replace the MIRS AMSU TPW from N18, N19 and Metop-A
with those from the MSPPS over ocean, while still keeping MIRS TPW over
land. The effort is undergoing at NESDIS to develop a more advanced
merging algorithm to make full use of the MIRS data everywhere.
