Subject: Administrative, GOES-14 is scheduled to return to normal --14dae9399ce7268f6004c72abdc8 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 Topic: GOES-14 return to normal mode is scheduled for August 14, 2012 Date/Time Issued: August 13, 2012 1930 UTC Product(s) or Data Impacted: GOES-14 Imager and Sounder data Date/Time of Initial Impact: August 14, 2012 1600 UTC Date/Time of Expected End: October 31, 2012 1200 UTC Length of Outage: N/A See table in Details. Details/Specifics of Change: GOES-14 return to normal mode is scheduled for August 14, 2012. GOES-14 is scheduled to return to normal mode for the annual North/South maneuver in August 2012. It was commanded to storage mode on November 4, 2010, to preserve lifetime of payloads and to reduce operational support effort. All GOES-14 subsystems are nominal. ESPC Operations will NOT be deriving and distributing GOES-14 products; however, users with direct rebroadcast capabilities should exploit this opportunity to retest their GVAR ingest equipment. Navigation location for GOES-14 is found at within WMO header TBUS09, and is located roughly at 105 degrees west. Upcoming GOES-14 Normal Mode Activities and Operations will include: Month/Day - Activity * 08/14 - Stellar acquisition mode and payload activation operations; * 08/14 to 08/15 - INR (Image Navigation Registration) start-up; * 08/15 to 10/31 - GOES Stray Light testing will occur from 04:45 UTC to 09:14 UTC daily. There will be no SRSOR (Super Rapid Scan Operations) imaging during this time; * 08/16 - Start running daily optimized GOES-East schedules. SRSOR (Super Rapid Scan Operations) requests accepted; * 08/21 - Annual North/South maneuver following with needed East/West maneuvers to keep GOES-14 in the station box. Please note: No SRSOR (Super Rapid Scan Operations) requests for ~8hrs following the maneuver; * 08/16 to 08/30 - Support GOES-R SRSO (Super Rapid Scan Operations) testing. * 08/16 to 10/31 - Default schedules: new day starts at 0134 UTC ** 08/16 - 09/04 East Routine ** 09/05 - 09/18 East Rapid ** 09/19 - 09/25 East Full Disk ** 09/26 - 10/31 East Routine * 08/15 to 08/29 - SXI EEPROM burn, outgassing and test images (2 weeks); * 08/30 to 10/15 - Fall Eclipse operations; GOES-14 will provide backup SXI and XRS data for NCEP's SWPC during GOES-15 eclipses; * 10/16 to 10/30 Provide primary SXI and XRS data for NCEP's SWPC during GOES-15 SXI outgassing. * 10/31 - Return to storage mode Please note: GOES-14 SRSOR (Super Rapid Scan Operations) schedule will be generated daily in addition to the default schedule. A minimum of 2 hours notice is required for requesting SRSOR implementation. All GOES-East and -West operations as well as any Health and Safety concerns take precedence over SRSOR schedule transitions.
