Subject: Administrative: Reminder: GOES-15 (GOES-West) Imager/Sounder --20cf3074b2a0813a2b04c9ad379a Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 Topic: GOES-15 (GOES-West) Imager/Sounder Patch Temperature Change is scheduled for September 14, 2012 Date/Time Issued: September 14, 2012 1800 UTC Product(s) or Data Impacted: no immediate effect to products other than unnoticeably higher noise levels Date/Time of Initial Impact: September 14, 2012 2045 UTC Date/Time of Expected End: See details. Length of Outage: N/A Details/Specifics of Change: Today, September 14, 2012, SOCC Engineers will change the GOES-15 (GOES-West) Sounder patch temperature from its LOW set point (82 K) to its HIGH set-point (88 K) during daily house-keeping period at about 2045 UTC. This is to prevent loss of patch control around each equinox due to dislocated cooler blanket (GIR: PSPOT-0005). The temperature transition is expected to take 30-60 minutes and may result in some striping during the transition, especially just after the command is sent at ~1700 UTC. The patch will be controlled at this temperature until after the upcoming Yaw Flip (September 20, 2012) and changed back to "LOW" again on October 23, 2012. We will be staying at "HIGH" setting a bit longer to assure faster cooling (less product impact) when the sun is further south.
