Subject: Administrative, Reminder: GOES-12 Imager/Sounder Patch --f46d0442fde0d6234204ca105587 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 Topic: GOES-12 (GOES-South America) Imager/Sounder Patch Temperature Change is scheduled for September 20, 2012 Date/Time Issued: September 19, 2012 1616 UTC Product(s) or Data Impacted: GOES-12 (GOES-South America) Imager/Sounder data Date/Time of Initial Impact: September 20, 2012 0315 UTC Date/Time of Expected End: Please see details. Length of Outage: N/A Details/Specifics of Change: On September 20, 2012 at about 0315 UTC, SOCC Engineers will change GOES-12 (GOES-South America) Imager and Sounder patch temperatures from their MID set points (98.9 K and 98.3 K respectively) to their LOW set-points (90.9 K and 88.5 K). This change will be done during Keep Out Zone (KOZ) time and prior to eclipse to minimize the impact on users. The temperature transition will take approximately 3-4 hours during and after eclipse. The patch will be controlled at this temperature (90.9 K and 88.5 K) until March 2013 when it will be switched back to MID settings during the next eclipse/KOZ season. Please note: Images right after eclipse (Imager: 0458-0600 UTC, Sounder: 0530-600 UTC) may show mild "striping/venetian blinding" due to decreasing patch temperature. MBCC (Midnight Blackbody Calibration Correction) will also be turned off for the Imager at the time of the patch temp change, and will be turned back on approximately 4 days later (on September 24, 2012 at 1615 UTC house keeping).
