The MiRS is upgraded from v5.0 to v6.0 with the following changes:
1. Extended capability to provide retrievals from DMSP F18 SSMIS,
including Rain Rate, Rain Water Path, Ice Water Path, Total
Precipitable
Water, Cloud Liquid Water over ocean, Snow Cover, Sea Ice
Concentration,
Snow Water Equivalent, Land Surface Temperature, Surface Emissivity
over
land and snow for all SSMIS channels, Temperature and Moisture
Profiles.
2. Updated algorithm coefficients for rainfall rate retrieval over
ocean
3. Some minor enhancements on QC and footprint matching.
The MiRS v6.0 products are available to both real-time and climate
users
through NESDIS Environment Satellite Processing Center (ESPC) Data
Distribution Server (DDS) and Comprehensive Large Array-data
Stewardship
System (CLASS) in HDF-EOS and netCDF formats.
The MiRS v6.0 data files keep the same file naming convention with
only the version number updated from V5 to V6:
