Some years ago, NCEP replaced MRF (Medium Range Forecast) Model with GFS (Global Forecast System) Model , however has continued to provide NESDIS with the MRF GRIB data. On Dec 17, 2012, between 15Z - 17Z, the Model AIRS Servers (satepsdist5, satespdistb5, and satespsdist5-cip) will no longer generate the McIDAS MOD/MRFG files. On January 8, 2013, if no issues are reported, NCEP will stop sending the input MRF files to the Model Servers.
